Qualcomm will be supplying 5G modems to iPhone 15 and 16

Since the debut of the iPhone 12 in 2020, 5G has been a cellular feature on every iPhone model, with Qualcomm being the sole supplier of the 5G modems found on devices. While Apple is trying to replace the company’s modems with its own, the next generation of device modems is predicted to remain under Qualcomm. Now, it seems that the manufacturer will supply the next modems for iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models.

On Friday, a research note by Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu (via MacRumors) cite that iPhones of 2024 and 2025 will use the yet-announced Snapdragon X75 modem for powering 5G technology, and just like the latest X70 – announced in February –, the X75 will be produced by TSMC’s 4nm process, boosting power efficiency.

All iPhone 15 models are slated to sport the X70 modem, which will significantly improve 5G technology in Apple’s smartphone lineup. Improved AI, better coverage, up to 60% power efficiency, and support for up to 10 Gps download speeds.
